Physics Worth Repeating

In 1855 Léon Foucault came along and demonstrated the effects of electromagnetism using a copper disc rotating between the poles of a magnet. The induced currents resisted the disc’s movement and caused it to heat up. These circulating currents became known as Foucault currents, or eddy currents, because their looping paths resemble eddies swirling through water.

Finally, in 2026, the brains behind MetMo came together and asked how we could turn these laws of electromagnetism into something cool and desk-sized, and thus MetMo Eddy was born. Get a feel for those early experiments yourself as if you’re back in the classroom, but this time you’re in charge.

Now Eddy is out in the forefront, brought into the desktop world for hours of satisfying fiddling.
