Really good precision engineering

It runs really smoothly, and when done right it amazes me that this stainless steel piston can keep spinning longer than most fidgets I know — all without magnets or springs. But that’s also the trick: you have to hold it correctly, and the spin should not knock the piston off alignment and cause turbulence. Once you get the alignment right, the effect is very satisfying. It might be interesting if there were some kind of simple holder or stand for the piston so it can be spun more easily while staying perfectly vertical. Of course, MetMo might say, “Well, we have the Fractal Vise :).” Maybe some other time when my budget allows it — I’m already a bit out on a limb with the wife after buying this!

Not worth it.

I purchased 2 of these and the stand. I was expecting the videos I seen on the website and I was extremely disappointed. Half the things work as shown on the website. And in order for it to work perfectly. You NEED to constantly clean it before changing it from dual stand to single use because the oil on your fingers will mess with how smooth the piston will work. If you dont clean it before every use. Forget it. It’s NOT going to work correctly. It doesn’t spin as shown even with perfect cleaning of the barrel and piston. Sure initially I didn’t put the orings on the dual stand initially. But other than that. Single use or using it at all anytime is not as shown without cleaning it EVERYTIME. I’m constantly getting made fun of for spending so much on some bs like this at the office because it’s so underwhelming. Just not worth it. Save your money and get something else. I got the mini ratchet and that’s the only thing I’ll give a 5 star too. The pistons…run far away and save your money. All customer service will try to do is tell you how you aren’t using the product correctly if you try to complain and just makes you feel even more stupid than my friends at the office for trying to show them what a dumb expensive paper weight I bought. I can’t rxpress how much I regret buying 2 of these things and a $50 stand. Just dumb. And not working as advertised unless you thoroughly clean the dang thing. Again save your money and run from this product. Should have gotten the wheels instead. I’m so disappointed in this product. 2 stars because if you do clean it before every use it will somewhat work as advertised. Shame on me I suppose.

A must have for any desk-based engineers

For people like myself who appreciate all things mechanical and well-made, this is a must have: a handheld piston that you can mess with near infinitely and never have to worry about things bending, breaking or failing. It It feels utterly amazing in the hand in every aspect: the knurling on the bottom is satisfying to grip and twist, the weight makes it feel incredibly premium and the tactile design on the top of the piston is very pleasing for the fingertip. It does exactly what it says on the tin, keeps you busy for as long as you have a hand free and looks brilliant doing it too! All you have to do is resist the urge to put it in your pocket and carry it with you everywhere you go.... (small clearances don't like pocket debris)This is actually my second piston - I had an issue with my first piston but Metmo reached out immediately to resolve it. Top notch customer care and quality control, one very very happy customer! Will be back for the next invention!

Pretty good

I ordered 3 of them for my kids. Two worked great, the 3rd wouldn’t go all the way in. Unfortunately I forced it in and then I made it from bad to worse. Lesson learned, I shouldn’t have messed with it and should have immediately contacted customer service.

By far the best fidget I've gotten. Usually my interest fades in minutes and only piques on the rare occasion with all the other desk toys I've tried. I'm on day two and haven't let it leave my side.

Perfect silent fidget, wife approved

I have been using a fidget slider and even when being careful it can be abit too loud that ends up annoying other people. When my wife saw the new fidget and that it was silent she instantly approved. The stainless steel is heavy which I was looking for and the build is extremely solid. I have the Metmo pocket grip on order and look forward to these arriving after seeing the quality of build of the piston.

Hang on, going to start telling everyone we're wife approved!!

Does not work

Seized up on day one. Now I have a paperweight.

Unfortunately “broke” the first week.

It’s a nice build and a nice product. Unfortunately at some point I dented the piston some how and now it doesn’t actuate smoothly. It’s been sitting in a drawer since. :-(

We're sorry to hear that Alfredo! The Piston does need to be handled with care, and any dents may cause the Piston to stop working due to the fine tolerances. Cheers Team MetMo

Very nice! Very unique fidget

Definitely worth it for those fidget enthusiasts…this one is not like the others…it has an element of science that makes it different and still it is very well made. I think metmo is onto something and this fidget is certainly worth every dollar! Get one.

Amazing but be warned.

It is amazing, and quite exactly what I had imagined it to be.There is just one problem, the thumb print on top of the inner barrel has these small grooves that are sharp on the edges. Its not that a big of a deal, but it is a shame. One of the more interesting things that I bought it for was launching it, but whilst doing so I got a bunch of small cuts in my thumb.Otherwise amazing piece of machinery!

I'm so sorry to hear this! I'll have our customer service team get in touch with you and they can look into this. Cheers, Team MetMo

Its machined to precision but definitely feels to heavy to carry in the pocket as i had intended. As a fidget toy the fun lasted about 5 minutes, It now sits on the shelf as a beautiful engineered piston. A titanium or carbon fibre version would be nice if possible, not so heavy.

Even finer than the original runs

I just got a stainless piston from the most recent production run. I already had two brass pistons from the original run of these. I was delighted with these originals but was curious about what difference there might be in the stainless. Surprising to me there was not a noticeable difference in the weight, at least in the judgement of my hand. What does seem different is that the stainless seems to have even finer tolerance between the piston and its sheath. How do I judge this? The stainless piston takes longer to slide down its sheath with a tightened screw base. This may be in some way related to the newness of the latter. Or the manufacturing at MetMo is just at another and newer level of precision. For sure, MetMo has demonstrated its ability to do this, starting with its amazing Cube!
