The product and pictures of the product are different from the one shown in advertisement videos. In the promotional videos you can see both stacks have the same number of gears, 7 each for a total of 14 which would only give you a ratio of 1:8192 and my guess is that they noticed that which led to them adding another gear for 15 total to get to the advertised 1:16384, which is great, however, they could only easily fix this, by adding a gear to the stack that doesn't have the locking pin cause otherwise the locking pin wouldn't fit because it would be to short.

Because the locking pin stack is now 1 gear shorter than the other means that the last gear of that stack has only a 1:8192 ratio, meaning you'd only need 8192 rotations of the top gear to fit the locking pin back.

So for the full gear train experience you'd have to make the bottom gear of the locking stack rotate twice to get the intended 16384 rotations.

Normally I would let this slide due to being a technicality however since MetMo prides itself on accuracy and precision I just can't in this case which is why I'm giving it a 4/5 stars. It's still a fun and fantastic product working (mostly) as advertised.

This is not a too serious review just something that's bugs me, loving precision and accuracy myself.

Exceptional Engineering

I am thoroughly impressed with the MetMo Brass Gear Train. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and it truly feels like a premium, well-engineered piece of metal. It's a fantastic addition to my desk and a great conversation starter. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates precision engineering!

Pretty boring and really rather expensive - what it does is probably not really worth doing and mreley confirms i have too much money to waste. I must try not to make such silly impluse purchases - never again -- hopefully

Brass geartrain

I found this to be a well engineered item, once picked up it's hard to put down.It took me 50 minutes to complete one cycle and put the pin back in.It keeps your mind occupied while being quiet relaxing.I love it and I'm sure it will last a lifetime.

Geary me...

Well made like everything with MetMo - these gears are fun and stylish. I'm waiting until I have no other things to do in life before I rotate them 16.000+ times back to the start. Thank stars I could tell by looking at it and could go back and reinsert the pin. Also you can disassemble if you really get desperate!!

It took four months just for this item to be shipped. There was absolutely no disclosure that it would take that long, i wouldnt have bought it if i had known. Seems like false advertising honestly. This company needs to get its shit together. I’d expect better based on the price

Brilliant!

Could be a bit bigger! Or smaller 🤣 It works perfect. And I like the fact that you can take it apart to reset it! Thank you very much!!

Not quite there

Out of 4 Metmo items I have, this is unfortunately my least favorite, despite looking forward to it the most. The whole structure seems a bit wobbly, I think due to only being anchored on one side. That results in a lack of precise alignment which then makes things jam up.

Hey Adam, thanks for your feedback! This was actually an issue identified in some of our earlier batches, and can be fixed by tightening the central rods with a 2mm Allen key. If you're still having any issues with your Gear Train though, please reach out to our customer service team and they can take a closer look. Cheers Team MetMo

Love it…but

I love it. It’s great to just fiddle with etc, but after trying to line them up again, they don’t :(6 gears line up, but one gear is totally off kilter. Guess I have to dismantle it and try again. No idea what caused it.

Hey Philippe, thank you for your feedback! We actually found that some of the Gear Trains were arriving slightly loose (possible movement in transit!) and it misaligned the gears. A quick fix to resolve this is to gently tighten the top posts using a 2mm Allen key.If you’re still experiencing any issues, please don’t hesitate to contact our customer service team and they’ll be happy to help further.CheersTeam MetMo

Beautiful engineering and craftsmanship! It feels great to hold and even makes a nice whirring sound when spun on a lower gear. I love the challenges of making a full rotation and disassembling/reassembling.
