MetMo Stainless Steel Pocket Driver

Hi. My Metmo tool selection has grown to a complete system. Starting with the Fractal vice bundle, this works well as a machine vice to the mill
and a surface plate with the work station aids marking out as well as a reference.. The ball joint mount makes marking out easier as I can angle it towards me. Multi Drive gives me Files a mini driver and Scriber, and the stubby is just the best and gets lots of use. The Pocket Driver is a work of art, the finish is beyond perfection. Used in conjunction with the Fractal vice in setting it up to hold odd shaped parts and increase clamping pressure. The last purchase is the Driver. Although all my other pieces are in Stainless I couldn’t miss out on a B grade in Aluminium, struggling to find any reason to grade it as a B it works perfectly and gets use mostly configuring the Lathe (it’s just nice to have). To complete the set up I purchased the expansion kits, one of which was a Grade C to the Multi Drive. It may have the odd mark but these are working tools. I just need the Driver expansion kit to finish but the pocket driver expansion kit takes in most of the components. I only discovered Memo in June but it answered a lot of my immediate needs in the workshop.
Just as an add on my Workstation was missing the Ruler. A quick email to customer service and one arrived two day later.
What more can I say, this is quality and then some, lovely to hold and use. I don’t know about the 200 year life time but it will sure see mo out.

It’s very rare to find a company these days that stands behind their product so firmly. I have both the pocket and the full size driver and the simple joy that you get when you use them destroys the monotony of even the longest bolt. I just love the sound, the weight, and the obvious care for the customer. I can say from experience, if there is an issue the metmo team is proactive and professional in their efforts to make sure the customer has the best experience possible. Genuinely, there are many tool companies, but only one Metmo.

Summary - Gorgeous, effective, substantialContext - Used for light DIY, combined with a DeWalt bit set, and SabreCut MRSC07 extension barWould I buy it again? - Yes, but maybe the black steel one instead due to my lack of respect for storing the stainless steel tool properly when not in use.Would I recommend this:• As a tool for a DIYer? - Yes. • As a tool for someone using it for a living? No - Black Steel instead.• As a piece of machined art? - Absolutely. • As a gift? Definitely.It's expensive, but it's worth it. I can't wait to keep using it for the rest of my life.---Bad:B1) Scratches easier than I anticipated. After 3 weeks or so of being stored 'loose' in the covered inside pocket of a bag, housing the Aluminium MetMo MultiDrive case, and a SabreCut MRSC07 w/ extension bar (Chromium Vanadium Steel), it's a bit more banged up than I would've anticipated (images attached).B2) Side to side shaft wobble - When in a locked position, the bit (both provided, the 'fun bits', and the Dewalt bit set) has over a mm of side to side play, which is slightly exacerbated by the chuck wobbling a little bit. B3) Backdrag isn't great - I knew what I was buying, it's not a dealbreaker, but it's not necessarily as refined as some other stubby ratcheting screwdriversB4) Efficient rotation (within a 50°) space isn't ideal, but! This isn't a 72/90 tooth device - Again, I knew what I was buying, and for me it's not been a dealbreaker."Why the hell have you given it 5 stars? You shill!" - Okay. The scratching? My fault, I'm not exactly being 'kind' in my storage techniques here, and as someone who owns a brushed steel titanium wedding ring, I feel it adds a huge amount of character to the tool. Side to side wobble isn't excessive enough to drop a star, but I do wonder if 'v2' will see a tightening of the tolerances of the chuck to minimise this in the future.---Good:G1) Incredibly powerful, borderline unreasonably powerful - Quick perspective check. A PZ2 bit (without cam out) will shear at around 100-150 in-lbs; this driver will go beyond that. That Sabrecut MRSC07 I also carry? Says it'll do 575 in-lbs. Do I think this driver will do something similar? Honestly? Absolutely. Am I going to try it 'for science'? Not on your life.So far I've screwed directly into wood several times, and didn't use it to hand drill into masonry because I didn't have an appropriate adapter. I'm fairly confident it could do it with the right applied pressure.G2) Positioning - The multiple grip options are terrific (T-Grip is by far my preferred). I have had the chance to use it in narrow angled positions, and it's done very well so long as I can get 1 tooth in position. Having a 100mm extension bar on hand has been terrific for this. I'd love to see an option for an extendable body, and taller drive handle, which housed a 100mm bit extension bar as standard. I think the Stainless Steel version could handle the extra torque offered by the taller drive handle.G3) Magnetic bit holder - Not sloppy, good bit retention which extends into the screws nicely. Nowhere near as strong as the PB Swiss stubby magnets, but still very useable.G4) 'Wheeling the chuck' - This will be achievable across the full line-up, but! My god. Gamechanger technique. In the T-grip position, I can just use my finger and thumb to turn the chuck, without having to use any wrist movement until that extra torque is needed. This is A) unbelievably satisfying and B) very efficient. Placing multiple screws in notches for fixings with a couple of thumb turns on the chuck has been a dream. The speed and accuracy from this isn't something I can easily match with a rotating head ratchet screwdriver (especially when the handle for that then becomes off-centred).G5) Quality & Feel - It's just magic. Feels incredible.----What would I like to see in V2?1) Tighter tolerances on the chuck to minimise side to side wobble from the bit when in the locked position (helping with fine work).2) A titanium version. Would 316Ti suit? Possibly so, but I'd love to see what you can come up with!3) An extended driver handle to go with the body extension.4) A premium cloth bag for storage included as standard.5) Either a 100mm bit extender in a 'package' deal, OR a 60-80mm drive guide; bonus points if the drive guide can fit in the storage housing in the standard body.6) A review of the chuck teeth grooves - Given this is a 'lighter duty' driver compared to the full-fat one, can another groove be added without compromising chuck integrity/failure points? This might improve overall efficiency within narrow access positions (where less than 50° of ratcheting movement is present).

I wouldn’t call it a tool, it’s a piece of art acting as a tool. It’s a must have. Solid and well made.

It was shipped out weeks ago. It fell into the black hole that is the FedEx Memphis TN facility on day 3. I haven't gotten any solid info from anybody since then. As much as I want to have and use the stainless pocket driver I paid for (and probably would have eventually ordered the big driver in stainless as well), I can't recommend buying anything from here as long as they use FedEx.

This thing is something truly special. I live in the centre of a major uk city so space it at a premium. I have found that this driver along with the extensions cans handle everything I need it for. From odd jobs round the apartment and building relationship wrecking flat pack furniture to maintaining my (and her) bike and e-scooter. I even EDC this as it’s so pocketable and look for things to fix when I’m out. It’s so well made it feels like it will last forever. Metmo knocked it out of the park with this I am looking forward to what they come out with next!

As a long time supporter of Metmo’s products I was very excited to receive my pocket driver (stainless steel edition) and it didn’t disappoint.This goes everywhere I go and has got me out of a tight spot or two already - repairing a seat in a delivery van, and tightening very loose bolts on a John Deere tractor being two of those times.If you are new to Metmo, this is a great tool, and if you combine it with a Metmo grip then you are ready for pretty much every eventuality.

Metmo has knocked it out of the park again with the mini driver. Taking the engineering brilliance of yesteryear and combining it with modern technology has culminated in a sleek and effective piece of practical everyday carry. The mini-driver fits in near everyone's pocket and easily fits on your belt if you want the added carry on. Personally, the tactile features of the mini driver keeps me fidgeting with it through the day as it has a satisfying click with every turn. Whenever I've got it out, people ask me what it is and where I got it. Once you buy the mini-driver, you'll likely also feel compelled to treat it with some if not all of the accessories and that would be the right choice to make. You want more leverage? Get the barrel extender. How about more bits? The leather carrying case or the bit case have you covered.

I never would have thought that this compact steel pocket driver would serve a dual purpose, let alone a triple purpose! I broke my wrist on active duty and suffer from ADHD. I bought the driver primeraly for small tasks around the house, and at work to keep me focused and active, and as an addition to my EDC multi-tool kit. What I didn't bargain for was during down times - when my hyperactivity and impulses start to get the better of me - I have access to the best fidget implement I own! Plus, when my wrist starts to seize up because of the damage to my ulna nerve, I can quickly reach my driver and use it for single hand flex, and rotation exercises which gets blood flowing to my fingers. Practical, therapeutic, and aesthetic. Thank you Metmo for this revised engineering marvel.

Wow! I was impressed with the ‘big’ driver but the Pocket Driver is even more amazing! I got mine a few weeks ago and I have used it almost every day since, around the house, fixing my bicycle and numerous jobs on my boat. I went for the stainless version which will easily survive a harsh marine environment. With a bit adaptor fitted, it pretty much resembles a “normal” screwdriver, the whole pocket driver being the handle with the ratchet built-in. It really has been the most versatile bit driver I have used and I keep finding more and more things to do with it. It’s not just a useful tool, it’s also a superb example of precision engineering in metal.

I needed a small screwdriver to fit tight angles and stay at my desk, and I also happen to love clicky-metal mechanisms. So when I found a completely steel, pocket-sized screwdriver that is machined for performance, I was overjoyed. For me, this is honestly more of an over-engineered fidget toy, but it has serous functionality. Looks great at my desk and really fun to handle.

I supported this project on Kickstarter and I’m so glad I did! The Pocket Driver is incredibly well-engineered, the perfect size, and beautiful. It’s my favorite driver. Yes it’s expensive but the quality and craftsmanship make it worth it. An absolutely beautiful piece of functional engineering.I have used it on maintenance tasks on my Motorcycle and around the home, using it instead of my usual hex key / drill driver / wera ratchet screwdriver, and in most cases it has performed better than the tools I would have used previously. Combined with some quality driver bits it's sheer pleasure to use or even just fidget with and it's heirloom quality construction that feels quality in your hand that should last a lifetime it's truly earned its place in my tool kit.

I had the original MetMo driver and loved it, so when this came up on Kickstarter I knew I had to get it. I didn’t think that it could get much better then the original, but wow oh write was I wrong. The original is good for heavy duty stuff, things you might normally go to an 18 volt drill or impact driver. The Pocket Driver is good for everything else. Have something to assemble? Pocket Driver. Running a drywall screw into something? Pocket Driver. Handle on a pan coming loose? Pocket Driver. Screw on your bike needs to be adjusted? Pocket Driver. Wife tells you she wants to leave you? Believe it or not, Pocket Driver. This thing now has a permanent home on my desk, and I am so happy I bought it. If you are debating between this and the full size version, get this one. You will use it way more often. Once you have fallen in love with the Pocket Driver, you will be compelled to buy the full size version as well.
